STREATS, a not for profit 501(c)(3) project of the International Humanities Center, launched in November 2006 by assembling a small group of homeless and formerly homeless individuals in the Washington, DC Metro area on a mission to Strive To Reach Educate And Transform Society's (STREATS) views on homelessness. Through the years the STREATS formula for success has been engaging the homeless community, homeless advocates, and the DC Government in “real time” hard issues affecting the lives of homeless.STREATS is driven by homeless and formerly homeless individuals who Strive To Reach Educate And Transform Society's (STREATS) views on homelessness, while simultaneously Striving To Reach Educate And Transform Self. Behind the scenes of what we call the STREATS Machine is a potent portfolio of professionals whose sole objective is to move homeless from street/shelter to self sufficiency. STREATS participants and partners pledge to be solution based and positive in our thoughts, communications, and actions towards each individuals Exit Strategy from this cancer called- Homelessness. |
